“SOMA has been the most transformative bodywork I’ve ever experienced. After years of chronic pain due to plantar fasciatis Saša freed up my whole body.
I implicit trust in Saša and refer my students to her regularly.”
Robin Rothenberg, certified yoga therapist
What is SOMA?
SOMA is a system of bodywork that releases chronic tension, pain and held emotional energy.
Through a series of 11 sessions the body learns how to self adjust back to its natural uprightness, ease and fluidity. Each session frees a specific body area from its habitual
holding patterns and offers us healthier, more sustainable ways of being in our body.
How SOMA works?
SOMA's primary focus is fascia or connective tissue that weaves through the entire body providing the essential support for our upright posture and freedom of movement. When under stress layers of fascia thicken and after sustained periods of tension our body loses the ability to self adjust to its uprightness and fluidity. We experience this as stiffness, pain, low energy and we often become emotionally disconnected and unavailable.
In SOMA we release
the fascial holding and the compensation patterns
the body acquired to support us in times of physical or emotional
stress, injury and trauma. As the body finds
its inner alignment and a new sensation/feeling in the tissue, the pain can let go.
Grounded, fluid and spacious body opens new possibilities
of perception, movement and expression and we can easier access our joy and aliveness.
What SOMA brings to you?
Experience of deep ease and well-being
Long term release of tension and pain
Increased energy and aliveness
Tools to stay centered when under stress
Freedom of movement and upright posture
What is each session like?
Session 1:Frees the tissue surrounding rib cage and lengthens the chest and lower back.
Result:Feeling of lightness and well being, more uprightness and fuller, deeper breathing.
Session 2:Focuses on the body’s foundation, the lower legs and feet.
Result:A sense of being firmly grounded and in touch with reality.
Session 3:Lengthens the sides of the body and frees the shoulders, so breathing can expand. Result:Greater relaxation and more immediately available energy.
Session 4,5,6:Adjust and lengthen the centerline or core and balances the pelvis.
Result:Walking takes a fraction of the energy typically expended, with improved balance and freedom of movement.
Session 7: Releases the muscles of the neck, face and head.
Result: Softened relaxed appearance in the face increased self-reliance and personal power.
Sessions 8,9,10: Integrate the whole body in a new and more efficient manner.
Result: Energy and vitality increase as the body’s structure becomes more aligned and balanced in gravity.
Session 11: Opens the tissue of the arms and balances the shoulder blades into the back.
Result: The arms swinging freely with increased rotary function and expressivity.

“Our posture is part of our emotional anatomy: How we hold ourselves somatically
is related to how we hold ourselves emotionally and psychologically.”
